Three five-day meetings will be held respectively at the Universidad San Martín (UNSAM, Buenos Aires), the Universidade do Estado de Rio de Janeiro (UERJ, Rio de Janeiro), and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico, (UNAM, Mexico City), as well as a three-day opening meeting at UERJ (Rio de Janeiro) and a three-day closing meeting at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, (USFQ, Quito). These meetings are not conferences in the traditional sense, but arenas for an intense debate between professors, post-graduate and undergraduate students on the proposed themes.

The seminars focus on different aspects of the question “unfolding art histories” during the long 19th century. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of this topic, each encounter is connected to other disciplines, namely history, anthropology and archeology, which will be discussed from the art history domain. These seminars also emphasize different aspects of the research process – historiography, theory and method – which are traditionally connected to the main themes.
